best meal in camp

Some time ago up near Buck meadows I brought my Coleman stove and oven and we had the following dinner at the A frame: Pan fried pork chops, potatoes and onion seasoned well, shucked corn, peas and then thick slices of corn bread. I was cooking and barely got any of it but it was fun. For breakfast I made rye bread fried bacon and cheese (sharp cheddar cheese) sandwiches that carry well and taste great hot or cold. Who says you have to eat poorly in the woods?

Its hunting not Camp Cooking with Cisco.Im going vienna sausages  :chuckle:with spray cheese or a chicken noodle MRE .Now that I looked at what you guys got can I go hunt with you?Ill do the dishes.

Paradise Pancake

CAUTION: don't eat this before a big hike!!

1 pancake approx 10 inch diameter
Top with peanut butter, two eggs however you desire (over easy is perferred), 3-10 pieces of bacon depending on your apetite  , butter and syrup.  Make sure you have a glass of milk handy to wash it all down. 

Love this meal in camp.

Where in the hell are all of you hunting at? Aren't hunting camps supposed to have a smashed loaf of bread, jar of peanut butter and a crushed bag of chips.

MRE "chicken with salsa" I heat up the main meal the jalepano cheese and the Spanish style rice. Then I make a "bowl" out of the mre bag and mix all of it together. Then I crush up the vegetable crackers over the top and eat it. Then i eat the peanut buttwr m and ms and the cookies for desert. Doesn't get better than that.

Every year I take the shanks from my elk and cook-um in the crock pot till there falling apart, them dehidrate the meat so it doesnt require refrigration, take the dryed meat, along with dryed vegies, add water, beef gravy, dryed onion, bring to boil, mix up and add bisquick to top, cover with lid, turn off heat, let stand covered for 15 minutes, some of the best elk dumplings ever!

I was truely spoiled on this last camp trip, we had a ton of deer and bear meat from last year, one nite we had jalepeno stuffed bacon wrapped back strap, and a couple of nites before we did a deer roast in a dirt oven after letting it thaw overnite soaking in italian dressing. The last nite we had lemon pepper trout again baked in the dirt oven. No way i could pic one for best.

I pre made a crock pot if "Green Chile Colorado ELK" chucked full of Elk Steak and it was nothing short of spectacular. Little Sour cream dolup and some tortilla strips....MMMM MMMM Goood!

Every year we have a grouse or turkey fettucine waiting for us when we get back to camp with fresh mushrooms. Always nice when it is ready for you when you get home after a day of chasing critters.
