Bowtec Assasin

I've been researching around for my first bow.
The dealer suggested the Bowtec Assasin to be a good start.
What do you guys think? Thanks

only way to tell is to go and shoot some and get a feel for what fits you the best. I remember when I bought my first bow i shot everyhing from bowtech, hoyt and mathews and ended up taking a mathews home with me.. Seems that they all have their differences so i would see what you like when you go shoot it..

BowTech is a good bow.  I personally like Hoyt.

Well, my problem is that I never shot an arrow in my life so I have no idea how things feel.
I'm thinking about this bow having a full setup that I can gain some experience from and then get an upgrade a few years down the road. So basically I'm seeking y'all advice if it's the route to take or this bow the Assasin setup is a piece of crap.

my suggestion is to shop around and shoot everything you can. its also a good thing you have never shot before cause you get to shop with an open mind! bowtech is a mighty fine bow manufacturer along with mathews and pse but my  is go hoyt or go home!!!

Lots of good bows these days - Elite, Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, PSE, Strother, Maitland (and a bunch more) all make good bows.  For a first bow I would go to a good reputable dealer that has a good selection of bows AND can instruct you in execution of an archery shot.  Then shoot them ALL, ultimately one of the bows will pick you....

Dont listen to anyone that tells you to shoot a certain bow. just because I shoot a mathews and love it or another guy thinks the best bow out there is a hoyt dosent mean either one is the bow for you. Like guys have all ready said shoot a bunch of different bows and you will find the one you need. Happy hunting

i shoot hoyt and love it. i do think for a first bow a good solo cam bow might be the way to go. youll have less to worry about with cam timing and stuff which will allow you to focus more on learning properly  and less on equipment. so mathews may be a good way to go if yah have the money. when my buddy said he wanted to start deer hunting thats what i made him get and he was able to learn quick and shoot very well without having to understand alot about the bow and how it works.

I just got a Bowtec Assasin ($599 RAK - Ready Aim Kill, which means full package except arrows) this year and I personally like it.  I shot a lot of bows before picking the one I wanted and I went to all the shops from Mount Lake Terrace to Bow.  There are so many good bows out there that it is hard to choose. I finally had to take it down to a few qualities I was looking for: quiet, felt good in my hands, and had a decent reputation. There are no doubt a lot of bows out there but I like the comment earlier that the bow will find you.

Remember, it doesn't matter how expensive a bow you buy if you can't shoot worth a hill of beans.  A good archer can shoot a crappy bow but if you don't put in your time you might as well grab one off the rack at Big 5 

Took me two seasons to choose.  Do your homework, ask a lot of questions, find a good dealer you like and trust and go for it!

Already been mentioned, but just go shoot as many good bows as you can in the same day if possible. One or two will pick you...   Also, good idea to deal with a good shop/dealer who has a good relationship with whatever brand that you end up with. Always important, but even more so when starting out.

If you have a dealer that you know you can trust then you should be ok taking his recommendation.  If it were me...I would shoot a solocam no matter what brand you get.  Everyone I know shoots Mathews including me...but they are expensive to buy brand new.  Last year I bought a Mathews Switchback fully loaded (arrow rest, sight, quiver) with a half dozen arrows for $500 off craigslist. So, if you aren't in a hurry, then you might be able to find a good deal.  Whatever you get, practice and get comfortable with it and you will be fine.

I was gonna buy the assassin, it's a great bow. Didn't buy it because I found great deal on another bowtech on Craigslist. Go shoot the Assasin you will like it great buy for the money

Just my  I have an Assassin and love it!  My buddy and I both got bows and he went with a Martin Firecat 360 and we both agree for the price we paid, mine was the better deal.  The Assassin seems smoother, quieter and faster than the Martin.

All suggestions are good.  Go and shoot some bows.  But to answer your question directly to the Assassin, it is a great bow at the right price.  My wallet says most bows are way over priced.  You will not go wrong with that bow if you decided to get it.

My friend shoots a Heartbreaker and very happy with it too.  It's basically the same bow at a lower drawlength for the short draws.
