25-06 bullet?
« on: October 12, 2011, 10:45:29 AM »
okay, i got some bullets for my newly won 25-06.  which should i use for deer?   they  are both hornady  117 gr.,  one is interlock and the other is btsp.  does it make any difference.  i am an average shot.   the second question is which bullet would be better for elk or are both just real good if you are a good shot?  the third question , what does btsp stand for ? thanks.  mike w

BTSP stands for boat tail soft point.

Are you sure both the bullets aren't interlocks?  I suspect they are both Interlocks and one is a Boat Tail and the other is a flat base with round nose.......but both are soft points and Interlocks.

If one is an Interbond then that is Hornady's bonded bullet and that will hold together the best.

I just looked at the Hornady website and I see that they don't list a 117 gr Interbond.  So, you must have Interlocks.  They are good bullets.

The BTSP will have a flatter trajectory than the RN.  Interlocks do hold up pretty well for a fairly inexpensive bullet.  Just hit behind the shoulder and you'll be fine. :twocents:

Hornady Interlocks are good accurate bullets, good enough for a friend of mine to plant the current world record SCI California Sheep with. In the 30 cal 150gr flavor, if it was good enough for that stud ram, it's good enough for anything your going to point it at. ;) I wonder if that ram thought " Damn, I just got punched through the boiler room,
TWICE with those damn inexpensive Hornady Interlocks "
