Uhmmmm- I'm in a 4pt GMU so a no brainer for me. But I would love for a tender spike to be in the freezer

I hunt the western part of the state and I will take the first buck 2 point or better I can get. But during extended buck if there is a spike with a good amount of meat on him I might take him.

Not going to pass up a deer i'd shoot the last hour in the first hour. All about the meat, and i can save some gas, and get ready for the ELK!!!

Ok I guess this is more for the WET side since the East Side is 3 points or better
I post this question as I have a great Piece of Land I got access to hunt this year . I know it holds plenty of animals but I am not sure what I would do in this case . I am not a trophy hunter so , I am pretty sure I am putting the hammer down

I'm not going to shoot a spike on the first day and end my season. I'll take a spike at the end of the day on November 20th, maybe. Depends on my confidence level. If I've been seeing a lot of sign and/or a lot of bucks, I still might hold out to the very end for a nice 4x4 blacktail. I've got elk meat in the freezer so I don't have much desire to shoot something just for the meat.

That spike is getting shot. I couldn't care less about antlers.

It's not so much the antlers I care about, it's more that I want a mature, big-bodied buck that's been around a while. Plus I just want to spend some time in the woods hunting. I've spent the last 8 months scouting. To end it on the first day on a year old buck just seems like a terrible waste. I want to be out there when there's a chance of seeing rutting activity and big bucks running around during daylight hours, that you would never see any other time of the year. Not to mention, a 4 year old buck will have a heck of a lot more meat on him than a 1 year old buck.
