monster blackie
« on: November 01, 2011, 12:06:01 PM »
this monster was taken off public land near Belfair (Hood Canal) on Friday PM. he must have heard my hunting buddy (SavageDave) climb into his stand 'cause as soon as he sat down and pulled out his binos SavageDave saw this brute at 30 yds. just starring at him... likely wanted to kick his a$$ for looking at his does.

less then 2 min in his stand and he had this monster buck down. 4x5. true western wa blacktail. gutted it and struggled to get him to the truck. weighed it when we got to the shop... 174 lbs hanging. 20.5" spread.

type of story and situation you only think happens to the old timers.

i was 100 yds away and figured he dropped his rifle or something as i thought there was no way he got one that quick!

Very nice! Send a pic and a story to the local (to Belfair/Mason County) paper! I know the guy who writes the outdoors there and he would print that up for sure!

He is a 7x5, 21 inches wide and field dressed 200 pds. Taken out of GMU 520.

I posted a picture just a few minues ago that has a side view of the antlers. It is on a post
titled Man Cave Wall. It is the only one I can find at this time. The 7x5 comes from counting one point on the right antler that is just an inch long and also counts the eye guards. I will look through the gadzillion pictures I have from over 50 years of hunting and see if I can come up with a better one. Muskrat
