There are big mature blacktails everywhere, you just have to put in your time and find a good local area. Find the little hidie holes that everyone passes up.

I agree, good little blacktail "nooks" don't have to be all that big and can be just about anywhere in W. Wa. I've seen good bucks in every Western Wa. County I've been to. It also depends on your definition of "best". Some don't like the Vail experience, while there's others who really enjoy it, it's a good place to take kids to learn to hunt. If you are after a toad, your probably better off passing on the Vail general season and hiking behing a Wheyerhauser, Green Diamond, Hancock, or other timber company gate.

It all depends on your definition of best ~ I've never spent more than 45 minutes on the islands shooting my second deer (I've had the tag every year it's been available) but if your looking for a BC deer private ground around king/snohomish county or whatcom county is where it's at.

Where I hunt! :chuckle: The best place I have found is Urlost mountain near unknown creek inbetween Oregon and British Columbia.  Tons of BC's there but are a little difficult to find.  C'mon you cannot give up blacktail holes, they are worth their weight in gold!  I have been A$$H :crap:LED twice with spots and now only a few know the hot spots.

maintain a status of independence from any who might
