I also have a rifle big bull tag for rimrock and it is national forrest so you cannot ride quads, i was hoping to ride mine to. There are jeep trails up there that you can ride on but not sure where they are at.

I brought mine last year. Then I get there and there are big signs that say no quads and everything needs to be street legal. Se Mine stayed in the truck the whole time. Watch out for all the jeeps that are on the trails. In the summer they are thick and come around the corners pretty fast.

I am really trying to do my homework for this tag. i see it as a pretty big honor. its my first draw and will be my first elk if i get one.
so im trying to find out where the best place to start walking is and where i can possibly see the most WAPITI.

Our NF roads tend to be good enough for trucks and don't need ATV's. The Jeep trails are another subject. If you hunt other western states, it's a different ballgame. They don't have the same restrictions and ATV's are everywhere and quite useful.  I use a two wheeler, street legal, to do alot of scouting and moving on but when somethings down, I sure wish that it was a four wheeler. ha

When I'm allowed 90% of the time I park my truck and use my quad ( on the road ). My quad uses a lot less gas then my truck, I can pull over to the side to let people pass, Less wear and tear on my truck. I can just park off to the side and go hike. It comes in real handy.

The difference is on National forest lands any vehicle on a road must be street legal.  Most ATV's are not street legal unless you have them licesed that way, and they have to have a horn and a rear view mirror.  Mine is street legal and can be ridden on the roads.  Remember, your truck is also street legal, but your quad is not.  Some FS guys won't pay you any mind and some will fine you and confiscate your ATV.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

Sorry Guys but in Washington State You had better not get caught on a Forest Service Road with your Quads . In fact there is a movement right now to make Quads ILLEGAL on state Green Dot Roads . Thats DNR & Game Deptment Roads .
Ya I know Pisses me off too, as my wife & I ride Quads.
They were trying to get it so we could License them and would be like Idaho and Be able to ride on county and forest Servce Roads but it got shot down. I'll Know more this weekend as we're going out with a big ALL Wheels group to do cleanup.

I understand all the rules for the NF i just dont understand the logic. Its a stinking gravel road in the forrest.  not some black topped highway.
