What are your plans to save gas?
« on: February 20, 2012, 04:33:36 PM »
I am thinking about buying a street legal bike or a moped to save money.  The gas prices are climbing so we got to do something to save gas :bash: :twocents:. With my ford explorer, I get better mileage (17 mpg average) having studs on and driving pavement in the winter compared to 14 mpg in the summer going up in the hills on dirt and gravel.

I plan on using the heavy foot more often. I never get better than 17 anyway so I may as well help offset all the carbon dioxide I breathe. We better go to iran or the doomsday gas people will be proven wrong again. I love how gas is supposed to be a dollar more than they wrongly predicted last year. I bet if they scare enough people they can charge more for gas when there's less demand than ever before from us.

I just do less, fuel prices kept me from trapping this year.scouting trips are coupled with woodcutting,if Im not to pooped or hurting.my silverado get 15mpg which isnt bad  for putting around but it adds up in a hurry.better planning,we wait to check the mail till we need to go to town.Funny I wanted a load of tagro,so i waited until my grandaughters birthday which wasnt far off.they live in tacoma, and the tagro isnt far from their home.I showed up to my son's house with a load ...PEEE YEW  :chuckle: :chuckle:

:chuckle:     That would probably do more to cut back on your gas use than anything!

I vividly remember as a teenager seeing a very old lady driving a car with a bumper sticker that read "Save Gas - Fart in a Jar".  I'm pretty sure some prankster stuck it there. :chuckle:

I do a lot more 'camping'.  Instead of driving home from one day of scouting, I just find a place to pull in and camp for the night so I can scout the next day.  It beats all the extra driving with the additional sleep anyways.

The last two or three years I've been doing all my hunting close to home. Used to go to eastern Wa all the time, for both scouting and hunting trips. Sure do miss it, but I've also really been enjoying the fact that I can scout at least once a week, all from home. The furthest hunting spot this year from home was seven miles away, a 15 minute drive.
