Non-Typical Whitetail
« on: July 28, 2008, 05:35:02 PM »
Here is a buck I've been getting trail camera photos of since 2005. This is the first year he has sprouted a non-typical rack. He had split brows the last 2 years, but nothing like this. I'm pretty sure in 2005 he was a 3 year old, which makes him 6 years old this year.

Single nontypical side on a formerly typical buck.  If you kill him, look closely for evidence of trauma on his left side, causing the right to freak - bet you find it.  I've seen quite a few over the years with the off-side of the body injury causing the opposing side antler to be mutated.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

You better give him one more year to get his head straight.

Looks like he was possibly injured on the left side, maybe a nut job on a fence or something.  One heck of a nice buck in any case!
