bullet question

My friend is using his 270 shooting 130 grain hornady light mags.
He is REALLY accurate with it but im not sure if it will do for bear.
Do you think its adequate for bear?

It all falls on the shooter a good place bullet will do wonders.

ive never shot them in my 270, but have shot them in my 30'06. They didnt shoot all that great, so i never shot game with them. I would think a bear shot in the lungs with them would die.

I've killed a bear with my brothers .270 and he has killed two of them with the same gun, no problems.

Bears are big-boned, heavily muscled animals, and it takes strong bullets to cleanly take them.

Every one of BTKR's bears ( lots of them) were all taken with a 270. The 270 is just as good as any if you are a good shot.

Ive shot those exact rounds for deer, and elk.  You'll be good out to 300yrds.

Sorry about the thread hijack here, but what about  .270 150gr Rem Core Lokt???

I know a feller back home in Montana that has killed well over 40 head of elk (and that was in '92) with a 270 shooting 130gr remington core lokts.  Packed out parts of the biggest dead bull I've ever personally seen that he killed with that round.  Personally I feel elk are much more tenacious than are bears, so if they kill elk that well, they will kill bears that well in my opinion.  Shot placement is the key.

It's all shot placement. Seen them drop with in 30yds from a 100gr .243, one shot.
