Sarah, you need to decide which species of deer you are looking to hunt. As a general rule of thumb the westside will be blacktail, mule deer from the cascades east and whitetail from central Washington to the east. Elk there are a lot of things to decide too.
yes I am a girl for all those who like to know.

I think we need visual proof!  Anybody willing to second the motion???  :chuckle:
lol

I'll be happy to show you what I look like. In one condition you would have to come see me at my boyfriends gym :D and you can see me in my work out clothes( all i wear are my spandex shorts and sport bra) ;) But you'll have to prove how manly you are by going 3x5 min rounds with my boyfriend in the cage first before you see me. And trust me I'm worth the 3x5 min rounds!! I live in vancouver so just let me know if you guys like to meet up I'll show you where the gym is at. I'm actually mean what I say if you really want to see what I look like then come to the couve if not then please stop asking me what I look like.. Cause every time you guys say that to me all i picture is a 300 pound pedophile who lives in his parents basement looking to get a hard on. I came here to learn about the sport so I can do something I once love with my dad not to be looked at.

That's hilarious. Welcome to the site, and welcome back to hunting. For rifles, I would check out a .270. See if you can find somebody that has one that will let you shoot it first. I have one I would let you shoot, but I'm not all that close to the couv. Based on what you have said, you could probably handle a .270 though. This will cover deer and elk. Unless you want to join the "you can't kill an elk without a magnum" group.  :chuckle:

Sarah..ignore the 300lb pedophiles and other idiots.  I think we need more hunters in the woods and fields spreading postiveness about our sport.   Also part of hunting camp is giving eachother a hard time and I am sure some of these guys meant no harm.  Way to give it back to them.  Welcome.

Hey looks like we got a girl on here who can handle herself (and if she can't I'm sure her bf could)... lol all in fun girl no worries.  Just part of being on a hunting site that's full of guys.  We're super excited to help out anybody who's new to the sport, doesn't matter if you 12 or 60 we'll do what we can.  But rest assured, this is a very tight community of people and it may take a bit to get used to some of the crude humor and sarcasm!

Once again welcome to the site, hope you'll pull up a chair and stick around awhile!  Best of luck getting out this fall and with your safety class!

Michael
PS: I'm not quite 300 lbs, and I live in the garage, not the basement... lol  ;)

If you guys really want to see her give up some of your spots to her so she can bag a buck or a bull.  Im sure she would post pictures if she was successful.  I cannot help you out with your local areas. I do know a few guys that do know it a little, I will try to get you some info.  Get some regulations and check them out.  If you have a local sporting goods store you can check that out too.  Have fun and we will see you in the woods!
