Night Hunting Coyotes - Rule Changes Still Proposed
« on: April 02, 2012, 02:26:36 PM »
It looks like the clarifications to night hunting are still on the docket.  Hello .22's and No. 6 shot or smaller for night hunting?  I thought I heard they were dropped, apparently not.

UGH!

That's just the original proposals you're looking at.

Wait till the actual regulations come out in a couple weeks.

If you go to the agenda they have posted for the March meeting, and click on the pdf summary, you will find an agency response in there in reply to some of the comments they received from hunters who were not in favor of the proposed night hunting rules.

Here is that response:

Quote
Thank you for your thoughts. We received a
significant amount of comment on this
regulation, and as a result, we have modified our
recommendation. We are no longer
recommending this proposal even though we
continue to have significant concerns. It is just
too easy for a deer or elk spot-lighter to claim
they are hunting something else.
The caliber restrictions were designed to make it
possible for legitimate predator and raccoon
hunters to continue their hunting. It was also our
intent that the distance from a vehicle restriction
would balance the legitimate predator hunter’s
needs while creating a greater impediment for
deer and elk spot lighters

So what's that mean they are upholding the change?  I went out yesterday with no luck I'm going out today but the regs arent out yet so does this mean no night hunting with my 3030 only 22?  Are the proposed regs law yet???  Thanks bobcat

I can't find anything about when the purposed regs go into effect I saw that the old regs expire match 31st 2012 so what about my bow for totes at night with a spotlight an should it be red?
