Skagit bear reports

 Ok Ill be the first one to start.  I started my hunt off the mainline rd. Saw a few of elk, came around the corner and  alomost had myself a big ol cow right in my grill. After that woke me up I continued driving up into the units. Only saw two rigs the whole time I was in there. Put on some boot miles and saw some old bear sign. Then decided to walk up a little higher in elevation, and found two fresh bear peels fairly close to an old logging road. I continued hunting that for the rest of the day. Now its back to work tomorrow and hopefully after work I can get back up to there . I'm curious how the opener was for the rest of the bear hunters that went out.  Good luck guys

Expect more sign closer to May.  They start this tag to early.  It should go May through June.

I spent the day up their today looking.  I didn't run across any fresh sign.  Only saw a grouse.

Huh... Well I think I would not get excited for at least 2 or 3 weeks .... but it is getting warmer so things might start happening ....

I shot my bear last year the last couple days of april.

No bears yet, no sign either.   Lots of elk though.

Well just got back from my morning hunt.Saw one blue grouse and no bear. I went up to a different area and lo and behold there was a fresh peel right next to where I parked and started walking in. Wish I would of had my camera to show u guys. I walked some more and found two others that looked fairly fresh and several old ones as well. Not knowing how much damage one bear can do to the trees it could have been one or a couple doing the peels I saw. I plan to hit that spot hard in the morning. Good luck guys!
