Looking for west side bear hunting partner (regular season).
« on: April 16, 2012, 10:50:28 AM »
its been a while since I have posted but after taking last season off just out of frustration, I am ready to get back out there after the bruins.  I dont like hunting bear on my own as bad things happen to good people all the time and its best not to put yourself into a bad situation alone.

I have a couple spots on the wet side that I have hunted a number of times and have seen A LOT of sign but havent yet got eyes on anything yet.  Scat as big around as a beer can full of berries.

I have yet to put a big game tag on anything in the past 12 years so this year it has to happen.

My schedule is a goofy one.  Mon/tues are my days off but with enough notice, I can get an additional weekday off but weekends are out of the question as weekends are my busiest business days.  Getting an overnight for mon/tues is about all I can do or day hunts on those days.

I can provide the vehicle to get us there if someone wants to split fuel costs as my yukon doesnt sip fuel and can split chow for the day if needed.

10 year vet of the USMC so I am no non sence when it comes to safety and if I can actually get a shot, I can hit what I am aiming at.  Easy going and will talk your ear off if you let me.

If anyone is interested in joining up and has some good suggestions in an area you know of, help me get my first bruin!

I plan on hunting Ft. Lewis for the bruins, this year.  I was thinking on trying bow, but I wil lhave to see.  The last on I got was some 40 years ago.  When the season rolls around sentout a message and we will see about hooking up.  Retired Army Combat Engineer.

Still looking for my first bear but plan to step up the pace this year. I'm familiar with areas north and south of MRNP and Elbe. I plan to do scouting in these areas specifically for bear. If anyone wants to join me for a scouting trip, just drop me a PM. Recently retired so my schedule is flexible. I also plan to hunt regular season and will be using old school lever action 45-70 or a .444 Marlin.

What part of the west side?  I am up near Bellingham and am looking to hunt bruins up in the Mt Baker area.

Where are you looking at hunting?  I am in Port Orchard, and will be doing some scouting and hunting in this area.

I'd jump all over this but the likelihood of getting weekdays off for me is prolly less than .01%.

It's been several years since I have actively gone after bear. Been planning on putting the time in this year to at least work on getting in shape for elk season.
I haven't done too bad over the years in my AO. I've put a baker's dozen on the ground. No "monsters" to speak of.
I typically go out afternoons/evenings after work and on weekends when I don't have a lot of honey-do's to work on.  ;)
Here's a few of mine from back in the day.  :)

I'd like to find a partner to hunt with during the first half of August. I will be on leave from the 10th to the 26th and available anytime. I have no experience beer hunting if that is a concern for anyone but have hunted deer and can handle myself and firearms safely in the woods.

A military man with no experiene beer hunting? I don't believe it!

If I weren't already commited to a Wyoming antelope hunt during that time I'd take you for sure.  Thank you for your service.  God bless.

NataSS - I'll see what my October starts looking like just in case you don't find someone.  Have two guys I'll be taking into the high country so free time is getting a little tight.  Give me a short PM so I don't forget ya.
