I think I will wait until I draw one before I complain about the price :) The likely hood that it will affect me is slim.

Look at what other states are charging for their resident tags. WA is about $200 more for their resident tags. We are getting screwed as usual because they know that we will pay and pay and pay.

Comparing our resident fees to other states nonresident fees is like comparing grapes to watermelons. YOU CAN'T!

i wish they still required the tag fee up front so they could weed out some of the non-hunters who apply just to take tags out of the system if they get drawn

I think with the increased price of apps and the increase in tag fees there will be a drop off of some applicants.

One thing that really doesn't seem right to me is the OIL tags only went to $1652 for Non-Residents. They were $1202 last year.

So for residents they went up by 272%, and for non-residents only 137%.

At $1652 we're still well below what Idaho charges for a non-resident moose tag. Why are our moose worth less?

Believe it or not I also think they are worth more than that, heck if they were 3,ooo dollars I would pay for it.

Oh come on, $3000? Why would anyone pay that when you can hunt moose in Idaho for $2000 as a non-resident?

:chuckle: I don't see Aaron, Ridgerunner, last years Swakane sheep tag winner or last years Asotin sheep tag winners complaining. If you think you can buy a world class sheep tag for $3000 you are seriously delusional. Those tags would have gone for $10K easy if it were open for auction. Aarons tag would have gone for $100K if it were auctioned off, for $350 its pocket change, and yet you guys whine and complain. :bash:

No they're not complaining- they only paid $100 for their tags!   :chuckle:

In Idaho you actually have good odds of drawing a moose tag. I would apply in Idaho for a moose tag before I'd apply here, if Washington moose tags were 3 grand.

I don't so much care about sheep. I would gladly pay the $100 it used to be but for $300 I might have to reconsider.

Seriously I think what takes away from the sheep hunts, for me, is that they are not native. They were transplanted here from somewhere else. Yes, I know sheep were native in this state originally but then they went extinct. So to me it's almost like hunting a game farm where animals are just put there to be hunted. It's just not as "real" as it should be. Not like an Alaskan sheep hunt or something like that.

Ill remind you of that should we ever get the opportunity to hunt wolves here. ;)

I'd go on a wolf hunt if the price of the tag wasn't too high, but it wouldn't be so I could hunt a wolf, it would be so I could save some deer, elk, and moose.

Hate to say it but you increase the tag price and your going to increase the poaching as well.   :bash:  Thats just the mentality some people have.  An "Ill show you" kind of mentality.  Not good!

The price didn't increase this year, the increase went into effect last September with all the other price increases. and even though I'm on a fixed income if I was drawn for a OIL tag I'd find the money someway.

Someone said that if you don't put in an application each year you lose your points, that is incorrect, your points stay with you until you're drawn or die.

I'm not saying that these WA OIL tags aren't worth it. I will keep paying whatever they are going to charge us. My complaint is that compared to what other states are charging their residents they are way higher. Another example is my taxidermy license. I pay $200+ for the right to have a taxidermy business and to make a profit. The highest I've seen in any other state is $40 and some are even free. It just seems that because they know how passionate sportsman are about what we do they know that they can charge exorbitant fees and we will keep paying. :twocents:
