OIL 08 (Moose/Sheep/Goat) Tag Accounting
« on: August 03, 2008, 07:07:21 PM »
In reading though the "Other Big Game" category I was amazed by the number of moose tags on this site. For those of us playing at home, this is what I have found so far as to who has what in the moose tag category:

Member - Area - Weapon(s)
Alpinegus - ??
BellBoy08 - Huckleberry - Archery
Blessed - 49 deg N
Bullquest - Selkirk
burnhamrandr - Selkirk
Huntnphool - 49 deg N - Archery with rifle back-up
mbutler - 49 deg N
mingo - Three Forks
MuleDeerCrazy - RAFFLE TAG
PA Ben- 49 deg N
pumpkin (Finnman's wife) - Huckleberry - rifle
Ridgeratt - Hangman
Ridgerunner - Hangman - Rifle
robodad's hunting partner- Hangman B
Roger - Selkirk
Rufous and brother - Huckleberry

I put this together because to me the OIL tags (especially moose) are the ultimate. Let me know if there are others or if I have something wrong.

Other OIL tags:

Timbers friend - Chowder Ridge Goat
andrew_12guage's dad - Umtanum sheep
bearmartin's dad - Cleman Mtn Sheep
Alpinegus - goat

Thats a lot of Moose Tags going to members of this site.  I was expecting 1 maybe 2 members to get Moose Tags and maybe 1 Sheep and 1 Goat.  Thats pretty awsome.  Congrats to those who drew!  :IBCOOL:

I didn't see any direct members but I think Bearmartin's dad has a sheep tag and Timber's friend has the Chowder Ridge Goat.

Let's hope the trend continues next year for those of us that didn't draw this year.  That is an incredible number from this site alone.  Congrats guys and gals.

I went up for some scouting this weekend. I saw 4 moose. One was a young cow, probably about 1 year old. Saw her on Saturday. Then today I saw a decent bull (hard to know how much more antler he will grow in the next month or so) and then later a cow and baby calf. It was my first time up there and was a good trip. I learned a bunch of the roads and found out where some of the clear cuts were. I got photos of the yearling cow and the bull. As close as they were it has me thinking that I might be able to take a moose with my Ruger 45 Colt revolver. If not I will use my 300 Win Mag. Brian.

Thanks for the KU-DO's. It's been 10 years, and boy is this site fun. This hole experience is a blast. Still can't believe I drew. Only a hunter knows how special this is. My wife is so cool about it to. I'm going to try my bow first, but I well be packing a 7mm-Rem. Mag. for just in case. :dunno:

Do you have a camera? We are relying on you to bring back the pics and a story. Thanks to your post, I'm changing the title of this thread.

Howdy folks,
This is my first post. I have been doing some research on the Selkirk unit, as I was "extremely" lucky enough to draw this year. I was steered toward this site by a few people and I like what I see. If anyone is interested in what I have learned so far let me know.
