Elk Archery season keeps getting earlier?

I think it is ridiculous that it floats like this, it should be the 8th to the 21st or so and then just leave it alone!!!

as much as i like hunting the end of September for bulls, you cant deny the fact that the 1st of September is some darn good hunting, bulls still come to calls, sometimes better just silent!

My goal is still to kill a bull on September 12th, my birthday, but i still havent connected. Had one at 60 yards 3 years ago but couldnt seal the deal. I want my birthday bull!

My most successful time to call in bulls is beginning of Sept..alot of bulls haven't herded up cows and will come to calls much easier. To many hunters hunt blind and don't know if there are actually around and get frustrated, because they aren't hearing the "bugle" to give them the classic Sept type hunt

Once again, we need to keep sending emails and letters requesting a change back to the 8th to the 21st.  They are starting to get tired of hearing about it but that is a good thing!  As a user group we need to keep the heat on.  It is absolutely BS that there is a rifle hunt in the last week of September during the peak of the rut that they will not let an archery hunter apply for.  The only chance you have is to get the multi season permit and then you could apply for it as one of your "quality" elk choices.

 That puts too much pressure on the vulnerable rutting bulls, its too difficult to manage the harvest and should only be by permit, no different than hunting deer on the east side at the end of Oct.

I would respectfully disagree with that assumption.  Even the 21st, while at the front end of the rut, is not getting into the heat of it.  Not here.   If the Archery success rate was too high, then I would buy it. Until that happens, I'm with the  'starting on the 8th' group.

Show me the science on that!  It sounds nice to say but if that is true then Montana, Idaho, and Oregon have their head up their rear which I don't believe to be true.

You are just bitter that muzzleloaders can use archery equipment in muzzleloader season.

 Since when do the regulations and management in those states have anything to do the regs or management in Washington?

i realy just hope our state isnt making these decisions based off peaple complaining..i would like science behind madness,regardless of the date..but just for kicks i would love to be able to hunt the hole month of september  maybe oregon might be getting my September money in the near future...

 Do they check the dates of the kill? If the majority are being killed toward the end of the season do they back the season up to avoid those dates?
