the biggest difference in the strings is material and the making process. a good after market string is pre stretched and then served. this is huge because you don't have to worry about your string stretching, your peep spinning, timing changing. factory strings they don't pre stretch, they just make them serve them and ship em. then you put it on your bow and you have to throw a bunch of arrows with it so it settles then re tune your bow, and your shooting will be inconsistent till its done stretching because as it moves its constantly throwing off where your arrow will hit.
they call me the bloodhound cause i can track a wounded animal in the rain for 2 days when all it has is a splinter.. sniff sniff awooo

Tight spot quivers are sweet, but you're gonna pay for one no matter on ebay, craigslist, etc.  Same for spot hogg sites, but I would say they are worth it.  If you're going to invest in something, sight would be my opinion.  Trophy taker smackdown is a good, super simple to tune, moderately priced (used $50-$80) drop away.  I've heard a lot about factory strings/cables on hoyts in the past being pretty much garbage.  Local guy with a ton of Hoyt knowledge, who is no longer a rep so no reason to talk highly of them anymore, says newer hoyt strings/cables are actually pretty decent.  Like been said, shoot ~100 arrows and tune it, should be good for the season.

trophy taker is a local product is it not?i think thats what they sell at sva.it was a good rest by all i could tell.the guy i got the bow from tells me the string is good to go n its already been run for a year so i think ill be good for this season, ill inspect it when it gets here.n seems theres some reasonable custom string makers for this winter once i get my first season out of the way.any of you have advice on what to check out on this bow when it shows up?i know the limb pocets sometimes creek but thats an easy fix.i guess i need to check for wear on the string?im really so damn new to this i dont even know how to inspect it except for the obvious

Don't worry I was there 14 years ago you will pick it up and learn as you go. hoyts are pretty much bullet proof that being said I would shoot it a few dozen times and just make sure and check all the screws like in the cams. sometimes the vibration will loosen the screws. I lost one once so I check to make sure. just get used to shooting it and shoot alot. Good luck and make sure post pics of your animals
