Wife's Cougar
« on: June 07, 2012, 10:24:36 PM »
No, my wife is not a cougar. She shot this cat on the wetside almost 20 years ago.  It was the year before we got together and she only had enough money to get it tanned.  When I was at my taxidermist last year picking up my bear he had a cat in there that looked awesome.  While we were talking about it, my wife's cougar came up and I said I wish she would have had it mounted but too much time had passed, he said bring it in I think I can still work with it.  Well she and I are more than happy with it, when I walked in front of it the first time the hair went up on the back of my neck.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

That looks really good! For some reason most folks struggle with cats in general, I've seen some real ugly cats, not the case with yours. Who'd ya use?

Thanks guys, Rick @ Cedar River Taxidermy in Ravensdale did this for us.  He has done 3 shoulder mount deer for me and a 3/4 bear, all of which I have been real happy with.  The eyes are where its at and I thought he really nailed this one so I had to post it.

Never heard of him. I think your right, weather its a bobby, or a longtail, the eyes are what makes or breaks a cat mount.... Great lookin mount man!

I like it....and it takes a lot for me to say I like how a cat turns out. It takes a special touch for cats.
