I think I bought 100 tickets last year - I'll probably do about the same this year.

Less than last year (if I buy any at all).  My tag budget has already been pretty much blown, but I can't blame it all on WA.  THis year PathfinderJR and I both put in for MT antelope, so that was an extra couple hundred $(even though he had to earn the money for half of his tag).  I have to get a new pair of boots too, so there goes a few hundred.  I may sit out the raffles this year...

Raffles are fun. I put in for most of them. WDFW posts how many tickets have been sold every week or two.
This year some people bought a ton of eastern elk.
Maybe they did not read where you can hunt with that permit. Only places where you can hunt branch antlered elk.
That is mostly up in the NE or places where you can hunt any elk.
Gathering is easy. Hunting is a challenge.

You can hunt most any of the eastern GMU's for branch antlered elk, WITH a special permit. I believe the raffle tag is good for any unit that has either a general season or a permit season for branch antlered bulls.

That would make sense. This year, it looks like raffle ticket sales for eastern elk will easily beat last years. Several people must have bought a hundred tickets or more. Last year not many out of staters bought tickets, but it could be different this year.

What really turns me off about these things is I'm pretty sure you can buy them for other people.  You get these out of state people all giving their money to one person who actually drives to Washington and makes the purchase for all of them.  My guess is we're going to see a huge increase in the number of permits sold July 10-13 when all the hunting agency types like Huntin' Fool come to town to buy raffle tickets for all their customers.

I don't have a problem with out of state people putting in, but they should have to come here and buy tickets themselves if they want entered.  I know it's obviously not in the best interest of the state in terms of making money, but it'd sure make us residents happy!

Not sure how that happens, you have to have a Wild ID and you can't transfer your winning ticket.

Ticket sales seem a little slow in some catagories. I wonder how often they update the totals? The current totals are 12 days old.

Huntin' Fool purchased raffle tickets for their members last year. Here's the thread about it:
