I have been really wanting to do this but to be honest, I am not a great fisherman!  :bash:  I try, but rarely do I actually land a salmon.  Maybe some of you guys can give me some pointers before we take these hero's out for the day.

I will be contacting Randy as soon as I get a chance and will be registering my boat - MIXED EMOTIONS - with room for two.

Thanks to all of you that are taking your time to set up this event!  I am looking forward to meeting some of you kind folks!  :hello:

Considering most boats will be targeting humpies here is my advice...

Troll slow....start higher in the water column in the morning and lower your gear as the sun gets higher.

Use a white dodger...not a flasher....a leader between 14 and 24 inches.....a pink, pink/white, pink/white/glitter hoochie with a barbless hook.

Keep your drag a little lighter...they have soft mouths. Look for boats with nets in the air and swing towards them while keeping a respectful distance....humpies travel in schools.

Smelly jelly....krill scent.....can help. Bleed 'em soon as you get them out.

Also...don't forget crab will be open....

Buckmark and    brianmtsinc, welcome to the fun day in August. Even though we fish all the time the PINKS will be a little new for us. We normally would be whippin on the Kings and Coho this time of year. A fun day of puttin meat to the boat sounds fun, kind of like Lake Washington Sockeye back in the day. Cooler and ice is a must have. Gut and Bleed as soon as they get to the boat and put them on ice. They are great if taken care of, we keep them and smoke them for deer hunting in October when we get them trolling for bigger salmon.

Was thinking for the Hunt Washington members that don't have a boat and are in the area, we can have a meet and greet on the dock Friday night and shoot the breeze a little

For those out there who are either unfamiliar with the area or feel your skills are less than what they should be, there will be quite a few folks moored up at Guest Dock A in the North Yacht Basin the day and evening prior to the event. We can certainly put on an impromptu clinic for anyone who is interested. While I am not an expert on the area, I do know it well enough to help you be successful.

Also, if I can't get a boat lined up I would be happy to tag along in someone's boat and bring gear/knowledge.  I've caught plenty of humpies and silvers out of everett.  I also have crab gear.

Salmon Dreams....

We are going to need somebody to have a big 'ol pot of water for crab boiling. As we get closer if this doesn't get arranged I'm sure a few of us can make it happen.

I won't be taking up a spot on a boat (definitely want the space for soldiers), but happy to help where I can and I'll have my camera with me to take lots of pics.
