Son's first rifle
« on: November 09, 2014, 10:30:30 AM »
Hey all, just wanted to pick your brains.... I am planning on buying my boy his first rifle this Chistmas. He will turn 8 on Xmas day. I was thinking maybe a little .22, but also want something he can use for a first deer rifle. I am wondering what recommendations you all might have or what worked for your boys. Any help is appreciated.

One option for you.

For a 22 the ruger American bolt action or ruger 10/22 would be my pick.

For a deer rifle ruger American compact or tikka compact.

Easy choice for a lil guy.. Ruger M77 Hawkeye All Weather .243 Win. It's a great gun that will last until he wants to give it to his son, the .243 is a great caliber and a tac driver at 300yrds. Imo tho is the best gun for anyone with a small frame, and being a tiger it has a quality that will out last all of us

T/C encore get a barrel in a small varmit caliber and as he grows you get larger caliber barrels as gifts for him then he ends up with every caliber needed or wanted IMO
