Hanging a shoulder mount
« on: March 06, 2015, 12:32:29 PM »
I have placed my elk from last year on a wall near a west facing window. Lots of afternoon sun if the blinds are open. Will this cause the elk to fade in color over time?  :dunno:

Even with UV glass several of my deer mounts did.

Yes it will eventually. Not much you can do unless there are places that receive no direct sunlight.

Ok cool thanks. We'll its the best place in the house for it right now. I guess I could file the antlers down so it can be raised up and fit it on the other side of the room where the walkway is.

Heck, just make it into a euro mount and you won't have to worry at all.  :chuckle:

Good idea! I can find a young hunter who needs practice caping and he can peel away the hide to reveal the perfectly euro cleaned skull underneath  :chuckle:

You may be surprised what you see when you do that :chuckle: I don't think you have a perfectly cleaned euro skull underneath anymore!

I'd be making adjustments to the sheetrocked ceiling to make it fit before altering the mount. 👍
