Spring bear underway!! Big bear down!
« on: May 24, 2020, 10:03:20 AM »
Got here on Friday, cold as heck and trying to snow!  Yesterday felt like it was 20 degrees, the bears were not moving in our area, I did see a mom abusing her older looking cub.  She even smacked it on a steep hill and it went tumbling, interesting to watch.  Maybe she’s in heat and wants the cub out of the area?  Anyway today it’s beautiful and much warmer, hopefully the bears notice and come out to play more.  Only prob is, I left one tote at home 400 miles away, it had our dry food, salsa and chips, condiments (dry hamburgers are not that good !), and the most important thing in the tote, my WHISKEY!!!!!   Sooooo, now I have to drive into asotin and get stuff, damn!!!  I’d be ok eating dry hamburgers but I’m not going w/out the whiskey! Anyway, couple pics of camp and some mushroom gold was found! Hopefully dead bear pics by Friday!!

I was out all last week and the weather was really bad for three days.  Back at work today and tomorrow so I can do it again next week.  Weather forecast for the coming week is amazing....almost to warm.  LOL.  Good luck on your hunt, hope you find a big'n.

Thanks!  Talked to a cool guy up here with the mnt view tag and his buddy was camped right where we are, they had a bear go through his camp and tore it apart.  The bear ate his whole bag of pot cookies, and took their rainier beer!!! They found beer cans heading down the canyon, could you imagine how messed up that bear was!!! Video of that would make a guy rich, way too funny!

And I thought  bears were kind of smart. Stealing Rainier beer ? But I guess after the pot cookies any thing goes  :chuckle: That bear should have been easy to call in with the crackling of a doritoes bag.

Rainier, the beer bears prefer! Years ago, a bear broke into a cooler full of Rainier at Baker Lake and ended up smashed. For a while, cases of Rainier had the slogan "Rainier, the beer bears prefer" on their cases of beer.

Headed over Tuesday if you need me to grab it.

Epic night, no kill but bad ass.  Get to my favorite spot, and within 20 minutes we see a sow and 2 different boars, good size boars. But no shots on the boars, they would not stop moving.  Had the sow at 846 yards in the cross hairs for 10 minutes.   Let her live, lol.

Thanks mike, I should say I’m guessing the sex’s on those bear, just going off how they reacted mostly.  Those boars just never stop and she was feeding in the same spot for a couple hours.
