I was told the elk hang out there all year long. And that road that goes to Lester, about 1 or 2 miles after smay creek, is also nice. Good luck, hope you guys get one! 15-18 is where I have been the mostany luck?? What are you going after RB?I have a cow tag and no Elk yet work tomorrow and will be down friday for the last day of the season.

Well, my daughter got it done today with a couple hours to spare. She shot a 4x5 that was with a herd of 12 cows. It was raining and snowing and all around blustery. We had gotten soaking wet a couple times hiking around down by the walk in area, so decided to take a ride up to a clear cut on the eastern side of smay creek while warming up in the truck. We came around a corner into the clear cuts when my buddy saw the elk. They started to run but stopped and gave her a shot. First shot a clean miss, second shot dropped it.My buddy and I started quartering it(his first try at it, and me not much help... bad back, knees and hands), while my daughter started taking the quarters up to the truck, which was a couple hundred yards away. She hauled 3 quarters and the trimmings. All I can say is I'm pretty damn proud of her. We both got our trophy on this hunt and we both couldn't be happier!!
