Early humans sure didn't eat wheat and corn. Fruits and vegetables are actually not necessary in the human diet. I know, hard to believe since they've been telling us to eat them for decades. But remember, they also told us butter was bad and margarine was good!

Fruits and vegetables were only available seasonally and for very short periods of time. And the fruits and vegetables we have today are nothing like what was available in the past. But just read the books and do the research. It's what I did. The other book to look into is by Paul Saladino, if you're interested in learning more.

I've been doing keto since the end of February and I did lose 15 to 20 pounds and I'm pretty close to my target weight now. The metal mouth is terrible but at least I've figured out that bumping up my carb intake will pretty much fix it. It's just wierd.
Anybody else here doing keto get a bad metal taste? It is so bad it makes it difficult to drink water because it's like sticking a bunch of coins in my mouth. I found that I can get relief by increasing my carb intake. I need to eat at least an apple a day to keep the metal taste down. It gets really bad when I've gone for a while with very little carbs.

I'm pretty happy with the improvement in my health. In 6 months went from 215 pounds to 165. Hemoglobin A1C went from 5.7 to 5.3. But go ahead and continue eating your veggies. I'll stick to my deer, elk, antelope, beef, bacon, salmon, sardines, liver, oysters, chicken, cheddar cheese, butter, and eggs. Oh, and I almost forgot, lots and lots of salt.
