New boots...fingers crossed

Well I did sumpin out of the norm for me......spent a big chunk on some boots.

Tried on several brands and settled with Kennetrek, was the only pair that instantly felt comfy.....hope I made a good choise....still cant believe I spent $500 on boots.

I have no complaints with mine, got 5 years out of them so far.  One thing I did not do that you should, take care of them!  I didn't put the boot grease on them until last year, now the leather is cracked and the rubber toe is pealing.  I think they are still water proof enough for wet grass, but heavy rain and they will get wet, but again, I didn't take care of them.

Cheap boots and cheap binoculars are the two things that can make a guy miserable during and after a hunt.

The insoles are just as important as the boot. Randy Newberg has a whole segment on how important orthotics are to him. Switching from a lightweight boot like an Irish setter to a sturdy boot like a kennetrek or crispi is the best thing you can do for your feet if you're serious about hunting.

Me too. Once I made the switch to expensive boots I’ve never considered buying a cheap boot since. I’d almost rather hunt barefoot than in cheap boots. In he long run they’re cheaper than cheap boots because they last so much longer. Not to mention the benefit over time to your feet, ankles, knees & hips.

This is my next question, insoles. Are the insoles that are in them decent, or is it better to put something else in them?
I have superfeet in ALL of my footwear (suffer from plantar fascis)

Kenetrek factory insoles are better than most. Still not as good as an aftermarket. Part of the reason some people love them and some people absolutely hate them is because they put an arched insole in their boots from the factory, vs most other brands who go with a paper thin “universal” insole with zero shape. I’m also a superfeet fan because I like a high arch but if the boots feel good on your feet as-is i’d run them for a while and see how you like em

Sheep feet custom insoles have been good to me. They send you a piece of foam that you step in to make and imprint of your foot then you send it back and in a couple of weeks you have custom insoles. Not are what they cost, I paid for them with my HSA.

You won’t regret your purchase. I absolutely love my Kenetrek, well worth the money and will outlast most boots…very good investment. I’ve never had foot fatigue when hunting all day long. Also, I grease my boots every year once the hunting season is over to protect that investment.

Already been down the "custom" orthotics road...waste of money IMHO. Paid the foot Dr. $400 for a pair, they didn't last long at all, and were really no different than superfeet or the like....which have lasted me wayyyyy longer.

I did the same thing. Spent hundreds on custom orthotics. They worked but did not last long at all. Tried the Dr. Schols crap where you stand on the scanner and it tells you wich set to buy, total waste of money. Moved to green Super Feet, and have not looked back. I have them in all my footwear.
Here is the weird part my Plantar fasciitis  seems to have gone away.

Do you guys get the regular all purpose green superfeet insoles? Or the hiking ones? I tried the lathrop and sons insoles and hated them.

That is a great price!
