Drew the quilomene quality buck tag. I am not real familiar with this area. Going to start scouting.  Does anyone have any imfo on this area? Any imfo is greatly appreciated.

Huntnphool, thanks for the post. I am on the right track.  It sounds like the PSE windmills is the place to be.

We hunted the wind mills also but if you go from ellensburg to kittitas and turn right and go a few miles and go left the roads are better and we saw as many deer there and a lot of elk there were a lot of big camp sites up there and corrals where people had been hunting anyway a place to check out.

Cause he plans to scout it over the summer?

Lots of deer, some really nice bucks.  The rut will be going, so the bucks will be out and about.  Should be a fun hunt.  I wouldn't blast the first four point you see unless it truely is a toad.  You should get to look at lots of deer.

These type of comments really annoy me. I understand a lot of people post questions asking for info on areas they often have never stepped foot in, but come on, websites like this are for sharing info. If an eastsider drew a late west side blacktail tag I'd gladly help, and hopefully get to tag along. We're all here to learn...

My sons drew this tag last year - even though we were unfamiliar with the area.

We got some nice pointers to start scouting - even though we were unfamiliar with the area.

My older son got a decent (real good, by our standards) 4X4 on the first day we hunted - even though we were unfamilair with the area.

My older son got a small buck the 2nd day (we could only hunt 2 days) - even though we were unfamiliar with the area.

We drew tags thee - even though we were unfamiliar with the area and had a great hunt.

I will say this.  We did NOT see a ton of deer.   The 4X4 my son got was no monster, but it was the best we saw in 2 weekends of scouting and 2 days of hunting.

I would not pass a decent 4 point in there now.   And if you check the 2011 seccuess for that unt, you'll see that it's nt nearly as good as it wa 10-15 years ago.

But still a fun hunt in beautiful country.

Do you have a boat? Best way to hunt that area...in my opinion...is from the river.

get over here in a month and see just where you can still expect to see deer

Most of the big bucks I have seen are lower closer to the water.  You could work the Tarpiscan, Brewton, Brushy, or the Perkins but a mile or two from the water. A pretty good access road is up the Parke Creek road. There is a right hand turn that jumps you up on top of the Beacon Ridge and then you want to head North until you can drop lower towards the river. A Green Dot trail map is very useful and you can get one from the US Forest Service Nachez office. A quad is best in this area.

 Anyone know exactly where the 600 acres are that burned?
