Drive/glass mornings and evenings, timber or pushing reprod mid day (assuming we've got a group of people for the pushing part).  All day in total, not enough days off work to not spend every minute of my days off out there!

I sit in my better spots for the first few hours and last few hours and then during the day I usually hike around and see what kind of sign I see in other areas. My naps usually consist of finding a shady spot and using my pack as a pillow.  :chuckle:

Pretty much the same. Also some places I hunt it is way to far in to come back out, Ill usally hunt my way out at dusk. I'm not a huge fan of tracking an animal in the dark.

I know were discussing elk but I've learned that in many parts of the southwest US, most of the deer hunting is done in the morning. There's often little buck activity in the afternoon. If I'm camping out I'll deer hunt all day but if I'm driving from home to a hunting place I'll only hunt the morning.

When elk hunting next month, you bet your bottom dollar I'll be out all day.

Best "hunting" is in early morning.  Can sometimes catch elk still feeding out in open if I can manage to wake up early enough.  If I just miss them, I might see them go into the woods to bed, then I know where I want to be come evening.  During day will sneak up on small clearings hoping to catch a couple of elk who decided to bed down at the edge in a shady spot close to food.  I hunt eastside and the bulls will be patrolling same small clearings, so though I can't shoot them, it's fun to see them.  Seems they have the same idea as I do about catching a cow bedded down in those spots.  If you see bulls patrolling those clearings, you also know where cows may frequent.
