If your hunting and seeing to many people your on the road or to close to the road.  Walk a mile from a road and hunt by yourself.

Spent the past weekend looking for a buck and scouting for elk in the Coweeman unit, Saturday I put about 6-7 miles on my mtn. bike and saw 1 bow hunter, on foot, about 2 miles in. Sunday, different area, no hunters, a few quads behind gates including a guy and yound kid, no helmets going like a bat outta hell, also saw Dumb and Dumber carrying on a loud conversation in between (lousy)  bugles, had to laugh!
3.5 months left to fill my MS tag, no regrets here.

I essentially road hunt.  I get back a ways but, all of my hunting grounds are very accessible from paved roads.  I have hunted everyday this season except yesterday and the only other hunter I've seen is akashasdaddy and that's just because I was helping him look for a deer.

What gets me is I am in the woods all year long.  Out at least a couple of days a week.  I think I saw 3 rigs up all year.  Then come hunting seasons along with all the coastie folks That you never see all year long and f up area you have been scouting all year. :bash: :bash:
Happiness is being in the woods!!!

All i know is that i was sitting in a tree stand last night hunting, and watching deer.  If i didnt have the multi tag i would still be sitting at home.

I have a different view, I love the multi deer tag.  I've hunted hard since opening day and have seen one other hunter, however, I have seen at least 2 legal bucks every day.
Sounds to me like you guys are in the wrong spots.
:yeah: :yeah:

30+ days last year and 2 hunters= good hunting spot, lots of deer

HMMM everyone seem to think it is THEIR area. Grew up in Yakima the because of job oppertunities moved to Olympia.
Seems to me if you don't buy the land US coasties have just as much investment in the land as you do. GET this it's not your land, it is everyones " even those that don't pay tax's, another issue" so get over it and go deep into the woods. My son and I start at the roads edge and get on foot, or bike and very seldom see another hunter once we get 500 yards off the road. As far as the multi tag, that is the way it used to be in the old days but the number of total hunter seems to be down from then. Some times the xtra hunters in the wood is a good thing, gets the animals moving a bit.
If you don't like the system go to some meetings and get the rules changed. But if like voting if your not involved gripe or shut up either way you get nothing done without getting involved in the process. JMO

There is no system in this state that can be implemented that will totally fix our problem.  What is our problem you might ask?  It is simply way to many people and not near enough land and animals.  We have three to ten times more people than the other western big game states and a very liberal west side that is hungry for money for there social programs.  Combine all of this together and even though I dont agree with a lot of WDFW issues and policies they are not doing that bad of a job with what resources our liberal spenders let them keep after rapeing our coffers.

That's how hunting season works. 95% of the people don't go in the woods until the season starts.  You shouldn't be surprised, especially since it sounds like you are hunting an area that is popular and easy to access (since people who obviously don't scout know about it).

Even remote and hard to get to public ground will at some point have more than one hunter that finds it.  The odds of that happening are inversely proportional to how hard and far that place is.

Grousing about where a hunter hangs his hat the rest of the year is childish. Public Ground. Public.  Guy lives in WA, hunts public ground and breaks no rules except not recognizing some eastsider has planted his flag in the name of, well, in his name. Tough crap, sack up already.  Have more than one spot. Have more than one difficult spot. Be responsible for having alternatives and stop whining.

As far as too many hunters. It's the new normal. It's all about cash.  WA has figured out that it can't make it off out of staters so it's got to keep coming up with ways to wring more money out of resident's pockets. Permit apps, multi season etc.  It's not going to get better until and unless the purchase rate of those apps/tags produces a diminished return on the increased price.

Yup, complete joke. Everyone quit buying it!

Man I'm tired of all the bitching about it. I think its great, haven't noticed any more hunters in my areas, but I know there are more archers because of it.

Use the other hunters to your advantage or Hey what about this, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.  It is what it is, atleast your not at work....

I see a ton of road hunters during modern rifle , deer and elk. Thats their choice.

I'm enjoying the multi deer. Seeing lots of bucks and if I can't get close enough to one big enough for me to take with a bow then I'm already done scouting for muzzle load. And if that don't work then ill have ideas on places to check with a rifle. I'm glad I bought it! And ive only seen a few other hunters. Be like me and look for areas with less people. Just because there's less people in an area Doesn't always mean there will be less deer.
