Lesson for the day, when its -10 out sticks explode when you break them. I broke a small spruce about 1 1/4" diameter and when it snapped it sent shrapnel in all directions. One of those pieces actually hit the lens of my glasses and blew out a lens. could have been bad if I had my contacts in. One more thing you need to remember in the fidget north.

Found the moose shed in the middle of one of my trails I'm snaring. The three new weasel boxes I set are all on fresh tracks.

Do you use a rat trap in the weasel boxes?  Would that work on mink?

That's a hard call! Rat traps work really good on weasel!!! But a descent size mink will get away. In areas there are both I use #1 jumps and make it as hair trigger!

Teacherman, Have you ever taken a rat trap apart wound it one more time then used it? I'm Sure Loki is asking because all we can use is rat traps. In my High school Physics class we built Mouse trap powered cars. One of the tricks we used to beef them up was wind the spring 1-2 more times. You would have to refasten them to to board, and the extra torque requires a beefier faster than the staples used.  :twocents:
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

I think that would work if you did that! I put a quarter under the torque bar on them and that helps beef them up. I've got female mink in them before. Just make sure you wire them down.
