Called in a Sow and Cub last night!
« on: September 01, 2008, 02:22:41 PM »
Went predator calling last night up at Snoqualmie. Get set up at the top of a hill, call for a bit(ten minutes) then some quads go by near the bottom of the hill.....sigh...walk in only area and see quads...what else is new.

I think that it might be a waste of time, but I decided to keep trying for a bit. Not more than 5 minutes later, I see a bear standing up about 500 yards down the hill looking around. I blow some more and here she comes....with cub in tow! Cute little guy. Here is one of the videos I took of them.

In this first video, watch as the cub jumps off the stump and falls like 5 feet (about 14 secs into it)....she was trying to find a way down without having to jump, but then decides to go for it.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="
hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="
hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I watched them for about an hour and finally spooked them away at 60-70 yards..

More videos to come.

Here is where I scared her off....she was only getting closer and I wanted to make sure we were all going home safe.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="
hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="
hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Here is the second time I saw them...originally they were bout 500 yards off...here they are bout 200 or less...this is after they had tried to circle me for wind.

Very cool.  Looks like you have it figured out.

Great write up as always, Saylean!

I called in my first coyote last night!!!  Perfect broadside 50 yard shot with my 300WSM sighted dead on at 200.
It was awesome!

Too bad I missed....... :bash: :bash: Shaved the hair right off the top of its back and he did not stop running till he hit Canada I am sure.

Awesome stuff Saylean!
I ran into a sow and cubs up off HWY 2 yesterday. Sorry no pics. Glad someone is seeing bears up Snoqualmie, I see nothing but bikes...and the occasional hiker.
