Toutle Bulls killed?
« on: November 06, 2012, 01:17:58 PM »
I seen a nice 6x6  come out of toutle or loowitt.  Just wondering if any more come out?  My dad passed on spike but was in elk over the weekend.  Just hoping for nice bull.

A couple friends of mine has been down there since last thursday. I guess they saw a nice 5x5 that he wanted and then some smaller ones. As of yesterday nothing down. All they've seen have been cows. :bash:

A Deer hunting partners dad and his group drew the Any Bull tag (I believe that's the tag).. 3 of them came home this morning with a 5x5 and 2 spikes... I Gotta say im kinda un-impressed with them shooting spikes in a unit that's full of rag horns.. but they all taste the same I guess.. They still got two tags to fill I guess so there headed back up to put em on some Elk which shouldnt be hard..

I'm string here in camp wondering if I will even see a bull.  I've been seeing a few animals, but nothing like I expected for a quality tag.  I've still got 8 days, so it's more wet brush busting tomorrow.  I sure wish I could figure out this stupid wind.  It seems to be changing 180 degrees every 10 minutes.  There I vented!  Tomorrow's going to be the day!!

If any of you Toutle bull hunters know of any good spots for a cow, please PM me. I'll be helping my uncle with his Toutle cow permit, which starts Nov 21. We'll be camped on state land on the 4100.

Good luck on your bull hunts. Should be plenty of them to go around.

You can catch em in cuts in the morning if pressure is light, and We were finding them in drainages surrounded by timber not close to road, close to cuts and not in steeper stuff.  Just didnt see any bulls with em.  Good luck bobcat. This was the state land.  The elk are real spooky, try stopping and walking to cuts? :twocents:

Thanks for the advice Mudman.

With any luck, we can kill one the first morning, and be home for Thanksgiving, that will make the wives happy for sure. Otherwise we'll be sitting in camp eating Top Ramen for Thanksgiving dinner.   :chuckle:

I also drew this tag - any PMs would be greatly appreciated.  I'm going up there the weekend of the 16th to start scouting.  Thx.

Toutle cow tags..... just drive roads between the 5500 and the 5300. One day of road hunting should do the trick.

So I managed to find a 4x5 today and he's bagged up waiting for me to pack him out tomorrow.  This was definitely no gimme hunt.  I've only seen 3 bulls the whole season.  I spent the first 7 days on the south side and saw only about 30 animals.  Half of them were on the road either driving in or out at night. I decided to pack up and move to the north side State ground on Saturday. I found this guy just below Signal Peak.  This is definitely not the monster we dream about, but it's my first branched bull and I couldn't be happier!
