Finally.....after 20 yrs
« on: November 13, 2012, 08:05:10 PM »
I've been hunting for 20 yrs.  For the past 8 years my hunting buddy and I have been heading east to try and get a Drake Redhead, one of the few birds We had not managed to take.  That streak has ended!  It was cold, snowing and couldnt have been better.  Will never forget it!

Nice work.  They are fun to shoot and fast flyers.  I have a few mounted in my office.

I saw one of those sunday come in all by his lonesome. He was right at the edge of my decoys swimming in front of me so I decided to wait til he faced me and then scare him up to shoot him. I'm still kicking myself on that decision. Really hard!

Man I missed two of them last Saturday that flew right into our decoys. Wished I would have at least knocked one of them down.

That can is an absolute stud. The redhead on the left is a good bird also. Well done, when I first got in to divers it was a touch of a struggle as well.

Cans in the freezer but to much damage to the redheads to make them mount worthy.

Once you have found them, they will be back. You will see more reds later in the year. Stay after it.
