Free: Contests & Raffles.
Furbearer , I think you are looking at this in the wrong way. If you like to just call yotes then that is good for you. This is a coyote contest. No where does it say it's just a calling contest. It is a coyote hunting contest and any legal methods are allowed. You are making it sound like the guys not calling them in are less then you. You may think that is so but this contest is not just a calling contest it is a coyote hunting contest in which all legal means are used.

• All coyotes presented for final check in must be called in and harvested by legal means. Coyotes turned in that are determined to be harvested in any way other than legal means will be disqualified and the team will be disqualified. No road kill or trapped animals allowed.
I reread the rules and saw nowhere that the coyotes HAD to be called in. I would love it if any coyotes I get came in to my calling, but I'll take any I can get by any LEGAL means. I look at this contest as a way to have fun doing what I like best. Legally, that is....
You are missing part of it. and harvested by legal means
Yes, so if you are walking across a field and jump a coyote you can shoot it and have it count. They do not have to be called in to count. If you are spotlighting on private ground and shoot a coyote with a spotlight, as long as you don't shoot out of the rig "unless you have a permit to do so" IT'S LEGAL. SO any legal means count not just calling.
Yes randy will clear this up but I AM postive that not only called coyotes will count. That is what the discussion is about. No one said it was o.k to have a loaded gun or shoot from the rig. If people are driving private roads and shooting coyotes so be it. AS long as they are not shooting from a rig or having a loaded gun in the rig. Road hunting is not illegal. Shooting from a rig is and having a loaded firearm in the rig is. You can get out of a rig and shoot a coyote after you see one driving around. There is no law that says you cant road hunt
