Archery for Geese!

So I've always Ive always thought hunting for ducks and geese would be a hoot, but after about a half dozen tries in Lewis county I got maybe 5 ducks and no geese. Granted, I had no idea what i was doing, as chasing after deer and elk has always been my thing. Anyway, I went and met a buddy in eastern Wa and he introduced me to a whole new sport I'd never thought of. Archery for geese. I was sure it wouldn't work bit it took me 3 hours and 4 shots to get this group. I'm hooked. Now to start looking for a farmer around here who will let me build a blind on the edge of his corn field.

Are you shooting them on the wing or on the ground? I would assume to be shooting in flight you would need a fluflu to recover your arrow.
I saw a show where Tred Barta was shooting them with fluflus in flight, pretty cool.

Given the arrow in his quiver I would speculate he is landing them.  The guys that shoot them in the air use the fluflu fletched ones.  If you don't use the fluflu ones your asking for trouble or an expensive day of shooting!

We waited until they landed and then you had to wait until they walked into a lane that was clear of the dekes front and back. My arrows were my normal hunting arrows with G5 strikers. All three dropped dead on the spot. I actually got two in one landing, and my buddy got it on his phone video. I've never done anything like that but it was an absolute blast.

I tried shooting scaup with an arrow 

They just go too fast for me.  I think I could do a goose a lot easier but I haven't.

Not very sportsmanlike to shoot them on the ground....
