Recurve Doe Down
«
on:
September 08, 2008, 08:13:50 PM »
After some snafu's learning to use a climbing stand, I was able to arrow this doe on Sunday morning. My first muley. Shot her with a Zwickey Delta and a Chekmate recurve. Now on to the elk woods next week.
My hunting buddy Craig helped me out A LOT on this hunt. Coudn't have done it without him.

I've been shooting recurves/longbows since '93, so I have them down pretty well. Killed quite a few whitetails in Texas with traditional gear.
My range is certainly limited, but I have learned to live with that. I'm sure with a Mathews or Bowtech I could kill more critters at longer distances, but I've been shooting trad gear so long, I just don't see the need to change.
Gonna fry up some backstrap tomorrow. She had a nice coat (very little summer coat left). I'm going to get the hide tanned. Should be pretty.
Kind of sad that my deer season is over, but it is a relief to have a deer in the freezer.
Good luck everyone.

Well done! Its the ultimate challenge to hunt game with a Trad bow and you got it done. I'm def not putting down any method, but let me tell you, after you've done it, you'd understand. Well done.
