That was an awesome hunt! Your boy will remember it forever. Great job. Did she by chance have hoof rot?
If we were supposed to be vegetarian God would have made broccoli more fun to shoot!
"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?

I am sure the snow made the drag easier but those clearcuts can be a tangled mess to get through on foot let alone dragging a full sized healthy cow, great job and lucky you for only having to go 70 yards down.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

 So jealous, some day I will get an elk that is not 5 miles to the nearest trail.  Way to go

No hoof rot on her but 1 of the cow's she had with her had a little limp. I got lucky where she fell as she was on a pretty good trail that led to the road so didnt have all the junk to drag her accross, I still cant believe it was that easy to get her out (never usually works out that way for us)... must of missed the trashing thing?  anyone notice she pretty much has zero fat on her?
A hunt based only on trophies taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be, time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, the animals, and fish that live there”.- Fred bear

Nice cow!  Even with the downhill slope it seems amazing you got her in the truck whole.  We got one uphill like that this year, and it never even occurred to us to drag her out whole.  We just got to work quartering and gutting.

The elk is cool but the garage is awesome!  Glad you had a great hunt with the family.
