Back in the Good Old Days
« on: January 06, 2013, 08:28:04 AM »
Here's a photo and caption from an old fish and game news magazine from, I'm guessing, the 50's.  Notice that this buck only received "honorable mention" in a photo contest.

Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

Remember, it is honorable mention in a photo contest. Not size.

Not sure where that article came from, but that is the Omohundro buck, taken by Jack Omahundro in 1970 outside of Salmon, Idaho. 5x5, 49 1/2". He actually gave the head away to a friend as he was partial to non-typical bucks. Many of those are still displayed ans Rainbows End B&B in Challis, Idaho! :)

Awesome. Here is another gem: a 1969 article indicating that 900 mountain goat permits would be issued in Washington.

My dad and uncle hiked or down about 5 miles out of Riggins in the 80s and pulled a couple of B&C deer and a slew of monsters.  They changed the hunt outside of the rut and alas they came back to Washington.  I am trying to find the negatives to the pictures so I can post.  Great country great deer.

I recently had some old 8mm tape put onto DVD from my Dad taken about 1969. The last scene is my Dad (skinny guy) looking up at his B&C blacktail.
