The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the McLane Black Lake Fire Department, 125 Delphi Road N.W. in Olympia, according to a news release.
"Often times, unwanted firearms are not secured properly and can end up in the hands of people who don't know how to use them or shouldn't have them at all," Sheriff John Snaza said in the release.
There were 174 firearms stolen in 106 burglaries in unincorporated Thurston County last year, the release said.
"Those guns are now on the street and unaccounted for," Snaza said.
The firearms turned into the Sheriff's Office will either be traded for credit to the Sheriff's Office with a federally licensed firearms dealer or destroyed at the request of those surrendering the firearm.
The Sheriff's Office will also have prescription medication disposal bins and the Olympia/Thurston County Crime Stoppers will have child identification services.
The Sheriff's Office specialty equipment will also be on display.
