nice looking display piece, not a fan of case hardening think it would look much better being polished with the engraving and gold inlay

Thats the SHOT show gun... Its for charity. They aren't buying the gun, they are buying the prestige of winning the auction. If I remember right, last year it was a 100 year aniversary 1911 that went for $80K.

Usually a large corp wins the auction and the gun ends up in the CEOs office or the company lobby.
