O'Sullivans Reservoir in March

Hey guys an gals,
Does anybody have info on how fishing is at the Potholes?? I'm thinking taking the kids on a short camping/fishing trip to the Potholes. Don't even know yet if the campgrounds are open, I should find that out today but was wondering is it worth trying to fish for Walleye from the shore??? Any info helps, thanks!!!!

I have not heard any reports out of the potholes lately. Give Mardon Resort a call and get an up to date fishing report.
As far as fishing for walleyes from shore, well that might be a difficult challenge. Some where else to for info would be in the past reports, on the Poteholes at Washingtonlakes.com

Mardon and the state park are open year round.
A bunch of the seep lakes open today.
Guys catch walleye off the dock at Mardon fairly frequently, but its probably not a fishery kids will enjoy (not a high volume fishery this time of year)

We were there last weekend, not much going on. A few (very few) trout being taken.

take the kids to some of the lakes below the dam. Lots of fishing is open as of today! Good times!

we are going in the am for 4-6 hours but we are flyfishing. will let you know. i think the best place is off the dock, dont tell anyone i told you but they might get fed. dont know but i would do that. it is only $3 per kid. dont worry about rattlers and ticks, stomp around all you want. mike w

should have gone to shoot my new xd9sc instead of fishing at mardon. we(5 of us) put in at the spillway boat launch and paddled to medicare beach area in watermasters and pontoons. i was the only one to get a bite. we all used different flies. water temp was 38.5 degrees. will go back when it gets warmer. mike w

Get a map from Mardon and fish the seep lakes behind the dam. They're typically just minutes apart and you can fish a bunch of different lakes until you find some biters.
Corral lake is across the street from Mardon. Lots of bank access and usually pretty good for trout.
Mardon can also give you directions to Medicare Beach which is on the opposite side of the resevior. Thats a good place to bank fish for trout also.

Like others have said, there will be a lot of trout at the seep lakes and a lot of them will be the larger brood stocks that are a couple pounds large. They should be able to get into a bunch of fish. I forgot which lake my coworker and I fished last year but we caught a couple in early April in it. Or you could go to Medicare Beach and fish from shore for trout if the dock at Mardon isn't producing and you want to just fish Potholes. Walleye will be tough from shore, might be able to get into some walleye if you rented a boat and fished over at Lind Coulee by the island. I haven't fished that area this early, earliest has been mid May and have caught some in that area.

Thanks Guys, keep the ideas coming. I was thinking if the dock is slow to head over to Coral lake, honestly, I kind of cut the expectations on walleye and focus on trout, just want the kids to have some action. Everybody I talk to says that walleye from the shore is tough. So trout it is, hope to catch and fry a few......
