What ever happend to sigting your rifle in at the range?  I went out to do a little last minute scouting before opening day and must have saw 30 car loads of people shooting.  Most Not in a very safe way.  For $5  they can go to a range, use a table and know their gun is sigted in.  Oh well I guess those signs that say no target shooting only matter to everyone BUT hunters.  Also, I saw 3 jeeps tearing up a hill side.  Man I can't wait till they close down everywhere to hunt because of all of the idiots out there!

Yeah, no *censored*!  I was working outside most of the day and all I could hear were rifle shots and quads over on the Weyerhaeuser land across the road.  I guess that posted "no target shooting or motorized vehicles"  signs are for other folks.  I get sick of it but have grown to expect it this time of year.  What makes it worse is my neighbor owns 170+ acres butted up to Weyerhaeuser land and those illiterate retards cut holes in his fence (letting his cows out) to get their quads out because they got lost in the dark or are just poaching on his land.  I told him to run a cable about 3 feet off of the ground on the trail that they trespass on the most but he is afraid that someone will sue him for everything that he has.  Pretty f-ing sad!

Speaking of, I was in Cabela's the other day and listened in as a couple of gus were buying new bows so they could hunt this weekend.  2 days to dial in a new bow?  It was very obvious that these goobers had never bowhunted before.  I witnessed the same thing happen at Cabela's and Sportsman's Whorehouse last year.  I love these dude who buy rifles for a hunt in 1 or 2 days and tell their buddies that bore sighting is good enough. :puke:

I keep finding quad tearing up prime salmon streams near my house.  I block their trails and they just tear them down and rip up the creek bed over and over.  It's private land too!  Not mine, but still private (I have permission to hunt).  One day found guys down there shooting pop cans.  No harm in that, but on Private land??!!  They build fires and apparently have no worries.  Jeeez!  No respect for anything or anyone!

Two years ago I had 4 people come up to me and ask for help with sighting in there rifles :P I hate going to the range because I end up having to talk to people about how to sight in a new gun, it gets old fast. I need to buy a rifle without a big boom so they dont watch me shoot :tung:.
As for people driving where they arent suppost to, try and take pics of them doing it and a good shot of there plates. My 4x4 group has to put up with that B.S. all the time. Its not fair that the 20 of us have to cleanup/ fix what these people do :bash:.

I do need to go start to shoot my 338win though, season is coming fast and I havent had time to shoot much becuase of archery. :o

Ranges get full up this time of year.  I try to go months before the season starts, but then I get experimenting with different loads or drop a new scope on the gun.

It's a little goofy how many folks spend so little time at the range...go hunting with an almost sighted-in gun (or bow), and then claim to be comfortable at 200yd+ shots.

I feel obligated to invite folks to the range everytime I go and ask them to dust off thier guns and get them sighted in again.

I've been going to the range about every other month.  Would like to go more but at $15 a pop its hard.  So if it takes 2-3 times to sight in or if you keep getting different weapons to shoot then your looking at $45 plus gas.  Some people just don't plan that far ahead.I'm not condoning the actions of those who go up to the mountans and just blast away and call it good.  I would love to find a $5 sight in range near Vancouver, WA.

People should consider ranges. It makes sense for a lot of reasons. Gas savings, knowing exact ranges of targets, convenience, comfort of a bench and cover from the elements. There's a couple of places I considered road hunting (clear cuts) that always have someone shooting their shotgun or their rifles at. This is America so I would like to acknowledge their right to unload their firearms though... It is usually predictable where I can find these sort of people and I just decided I will not hunt those areas because of that. However I believe that those sort of individuals don't even ponder the idea that they might be ruining it for other people.

I forgot to mention that in August I was driving along Tinkham road and saw this guy shooting a rifle out of the back of his pickup generally down the river. There were people camped along the river down from where he was shooting. Supra Genius.

i understand what your all talking about, the 'sultan basin' pull of in a wide spot and blast away at whatevers handy type of people... but don't include everyone in that group.... i havent been to range in prolly 10 years. one of the last times i was at kenmore a guy picked up a loaded gun and shot a hole in the roof above him, he said he thought it was unloaded. yeah, no. i got a spot i go about 30-45 mintues away where no one bothers me and i can safely shoot out to 300yds. i have a range finder, chronograph, a solid folding table, stool and rests. i can swab out the bores in between sessions, shoot 4 or 5 different rifles, reload on the spot and not have to worry about dozens of clowns that shouldn't be allowed to handle a fire arm in the first place. not to mention the crazed militia types, know it all range masters and other wackjobs roaming around (insert local range here). i cringe at the thought of having to go to a range...

Those are the same people at the road pullouts too.

My local ranges have a 45-50 dollar yearly membership program.  You get a key to the gate, buy in January and shoot till december.  they have shotgun competitions, cowboy town and indoor archery and shotgun range, along with covered pistol and rifle ranges from 100-600 yards.  if you look at going at least once a month you are only looking at $4 and some change.  even if you only go 6 times its $8.50.  seems like money well spent to me.  I also understand what wrangler is talking about all the wack jobs that can be at the range, why not turn them in and have their key yanked?  :dunno:  keep the range safe for everyone.

$60 a year at Ephrata. It is a very nice range, but irritating that it has gone up every year from $25 to the current price. I pay to have a safe place to shoot, hope the club dose not up the price for '09!

The last guy that I saw take out a piece of the range ceiling was a uniformed police officer during his qualification shoot.  This was just after he dropped a full magazine and accidentally kicked it down range.  The guy with the stopwatch and clipboard wasn’t too happy.  I hope that he got some additional training before “protecting and serving” in my neighborhood.
