Pocket knives
« on: March 16, 2013, 10:11:49 PM »
It seems like less people carry them these days, My dad taught me to carry one and I did for many years but the career field I am in does not allow them on grounds due to security concerns.  My dad also collected them as a hobby and I got a few of them when he passed away a few years back.  do any of you carry pocket knives regularly?  I have heard that the cub scouts and boy scouts no longer allow for scouts to carry them except for certain occasions like campouts ect.  can anyone confirm this?

Pocket knife is considered a weapon now.  I know they have a no knife policy at cub scout camp.  Not sure if it the same for boy scouts.  I know I carry one every day.
Cut em!

A pocket knife is a tool if you were to ask me. I have carried it daily for 33 years. The blade is really honed down now. But it is still as tight and has a new feeling opening it up. My dad carried the one I got him when I was 5 and carried it until the day he died. My granddad and great granddad each carried one all their days. It is kind of a personal piece of jewelry if a guy were to consider things like that.

i carry one everyday, and use it about as much

My Grandfather and Dad always told me that if you have you pants on there had better be a pocket knife in them.  Even my Grandmother carried one.  Whenever my wife, kids friends etc need a knife they ask me "ya got your pants on?"  I feel naked without a folding pocket knife.  My favorite is the 3 blade stockman by Case or Camillus.

Always, but I went to a small belt knife for most of the time.  I carry a small folder when I have to dress up or go to the school for a program.

I have carried a swiss since joining the army in 87 and I am never without it.  My dad, gpa, and uncles always had a pocket knife.  My 2 youngest always want to carry theirs, but school frowns on that idea.

My mom was coming back from a work trip one day and rolled into a river and landed upside down!(lostine river over by wallowa Oregon) She was bringing my cousin back from Joseph Oregon to surprise us for the summer. My cousin was carrying his knife and cut my mom out of her seatbelt as she was stuck. True story my moms alive this day from my cousin carrying a pocket knife!  :'(

I carried a pocket knife all through school, and it never once occurred to me that I could use it as a weapon.  A couple of years ago I had my small pocket knife confiscated when I appeared for jury duty because it was a "Weapon".  It made me wonder why I was considered reliable enough to serve on a jury, but not reliable enough to carry a jacknife.  Yet a BIC Pen, or a pencil was fine, and they can kill someone just as quickly as a pocket knife.  Maybe quicker....  :dunno:
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I carry a Benchmade Griptilian 551 daily, and feel naked without it.

I know they have a no knife policy at cub scout camp.  Not sure if it the same for boy scouts.  I know I carry one every day.

Huh? my son just crossed out of cubs into boy scouts. Knives are not banned, though you had to have earned the whittling chip first (just a card saying you know the rules). Now that he's in Boy Scouts, he's one of the few that only carries one knife.

Always carried a pocket knife. If I didn't, how would I be able to dig the slivers out of my hand?
