That is, assuming that OP is in need of all the algorithms and tools that you used to create the modified photo.  Care to share the processes that you used to create the modified photo to test your theory?

personally I think there is a reason gimp is free and ps is $600 ... and yes I can justify spending $600 on ps , and I don't need pmags but if I did Id go buy them and .22lr as well ......

I still use CS4 with a Wacom Cintiq and never have never used gimp. but i just downloaded it. gonna check it out. Free doesnt mean bad, that is how the linux software started.

But on a personnel note I have found that just for photo touch up work, PS elements works well also and I think it is around 100 bucks or so.

For that price I would consider Lightroom.

I have both Photoshop and Lightroom, I use Lightroom for 95% of the photo editing I do. Plus the organization ability of Lightroom is awesome.

I tried Elements, for around the same price, Lightroom was a much better deal.

I am not familiar with the useability of PS, but if you are up for a cheaper option (free) try GIMP.

I use gimp because it is free...... It works fine, but if I were a photographer like some on here I would want something else......

Im not familiar with GIMP either but I have a hard time believing a free software is going to be as useful as a $600 PS software. If it is then a lot of us really got taken to the cleaners.

I really just use iPhoto, the free program that comes already loaded onto every Apple computer.  I currently have Aperture and Lightroom, and have had Photoshop in the past.  However, I just like iPhoto more. It isn't a very "powerful" editing program, but then again I don't feel the need to do any heavy editing - just slight adjustments to exposure and color balance.  As far as I'm concerned, it is the best program out there in terms of photo management (organizing large amounts of images). 

In iPhoto, when I click on something, or make an adjustment using the slider, whatever I've done happens immediately.  In the other "professional" programs, whenever I click on something, or move a slider, it takes a second or two for the adjustment to "happen".  That's too slow for me.  I just prefer the ease and speed of the basic iPhoto program.

iPhoto is nice for the items you mentioned, but I have difficulty resizing and cropping images in it. Also, I am at as to how to insert text to copyright the photo. Can you offer any tips for this?
