the desert unit did have a lot of great bucks and still has amazing genetics. due to poaching its not as good as it was on quality. I think the place now is over rated because of the amount of quality bucks that use to be out there. I believe there are still big bucks out there. I know of a couple other areas that have amazing mule deer genetics but due to people poaching, the deer usually don't get old enough. another problem ive seen, and I blame the state is the amount of doe permits they allow hunters to shoot in one unit. there were way more deer out thee 10 years ago than there are now. yes some does need shot to help herds but not as many as they let some units take out. gotta have does to make babys. the area im discussing, like the desert unit has great genes. my dad has harvested 4 bucks out of the unit that are 160 plus class. one scored 202 2/8 and we know another guy that got one not far away that scored 206.

im glad the desert unit is draw only. now if they can get the poaching stopped you guys would see big bucks out there again. theres a few other spots I wish were draw only. sorry I don't have a pic to ad but I thought id rant like the rest of the guys on here. I don't put in for the desert unit because its not worth the odds in my opinion. ill stick to putting into areas with better odds and the same quality of deer.

I had the tag ahwile back pics are on here somewhere not the best buck tag in washington when I hunted it didnt see any real mature bucks alot of three to four year olds which wasnt bad  this is more of a oportunity tag than a kill a big buck tag with some exception theres always a big boy in each and every unit that gets to age before someone stumbells on him and gets lucky

The hype is because it's the only limited quota unit in the state and it has produced some awesome bucks in the past.

Haven't been there much... Use to put in for it every year... I quit the year my buddy drew and shot a 190" typical with a few kickers...  :bash:  It was a fun hunt and a tough one as well... That sage will kick your butt!!! I'm not sure if I'm going to put in for it again this year or not... My main area we use to deer hunt has sprung up some major bucks and I will be putting in for that late tag for sure...

that buck is 31 inches wide and including eye guards is a 6x8. Picture might not do it justice. I think official score was 201 7/8 but Id have to check the book.

I am not sure I see more than 180 here.  I would love to see the score sheet.  No Disrespect, this just doesn't look like a 200" buck.
