arrow decisions! help!
« on: May 31, 2013, 06:12:33 AM »
Hey guys. So I'm looking at getting new arrows soon. I've been shooting the maxima hunters for awhile now but would like to go back to east on. Its either going to be the fmj acc or axis. What would you guys suggest? I really like the acc but have never shot them before. Before I got my current bow I was shooting the axis out of my old bow and really liked them. If it helps I am shooting the Mathews drenaline at about 70 lbs with a 29 in draw. Thanks for the help guys!

fmjs are good but are heavy and really fall off . I love the maxima hunters they shoot great , my local shop quit carying carbon express because of the profit margin so I went to gold tip pro hunters with a ten grain weight in the insert and they shooot right with the maxima's . here's a pick of the maximas and the gold tips at 29.5 and 70 lbs

Coach what grain tip? I shoot the same arrows draw and pounds. I was thinking of cutting a couple inches off of my arrows and shooting 125 GR. Tips? I do have the room to cut.

Commando,
Don't overlook the Black Eagle rampage. They are the same diameter as the axis.

I love my Maxima hunters as well.  The FMJ are too heavy for my liking.  ACCs are top grade so I wouldn't have any issues shooting them either.  I would figure out how heavy of an arrow you want to shoot and that will narrow your search.

I started shooting the Easton Axis N-Fused last year, and to be honest I really don't see much difference than the Cabela's carbon hunters I was shooting.

Give the GT Kinetic XTs a look. I went to them after shooting CX Mayhem Hunters and wouldn't go back.

I'll second the Gold Tip Kinetic XT's. I switched from the maxima hunters and I'm glad I did.

I am a FMJ guy.  I like the weight.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Commando,
Don't overlook the Black Eagle rampage. They are the same diameter as the axis.

If you want the micro diameter I would have to agree with this

Run some Axis shafts through a spine tester and you will never again consider them.  Even before you put the weight to them the needle is spinning out of control - out of round/out of straightness.  Compared to the ACC there is absolutely no comparison which is the more consistently accurate.  I have limited experience with the Black Eagles, but what shafts I have had to play with spin a thousand times better than the Axis.  But not nearly as good as an ACC or CE Maxima/Blue Streak.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
