Seriously? Elk in mason? That would be cool.  I live in Kitsap, and I heard recently there are elk in the watershed over here, but that is it. Strange. Can't be that many right?

651 and 636 have elk. 636 is draw unit and I don't know about 651. Saw a 2 near Goldsborough creek on the Shelton-matlock road a few years ago. If you plan on hunting 633 you should change them  :twocents: hope that helps. If your looking for a place to hunt elk near Shelton I would look toward the wynoochee

The tribes hit it pretty hard, but some good bulls can be found around the park boundaries.

:yeah:  99% of the elk are west of shelton closer to 561. Basically on the border. There are a few pockets of small herds here and there between shelton and matlock, not really worth chasing IMO.

A bull was hit on hwy 16 near Port Orchard a few years back. It stayed on Stokes Auctions property until wdfw relocated him. Had a broken antler and cut them off when they relocated him. The rumor was they relocated him on Green Mt or the Bremerton Watershed. Larry Stokes had a funny look on his face when I asked him. There was also a cow elk with a few others that got hit just north out of Shelton headed towards Belfair near Mason rd.

I've hunted both Mason and Kitsap my whole life, I've never seen one. However, I know of people who have.

McDonalds farm has a herd of about 100 head but, good luck finding them on property you can hunt them.  They do make it to some public ground sometimes but not often enough during the right season to bother chasing them

Used to see McDonalds herd out there all the time until the Indians decided to shoot them up about 8 years ago. Now they're hard to find in the fields and they pretty much stay up on Port Blakely land. I can find them but don't have the time with a 12 day hunt to get one. All walk in and it's quite a ways back in.
