Couldn`t care less about whether Eva gets one, how did teegansdads daughter do?  :dunno:

 :yeah:
:yeah:
I care. She comes from a HIGHLY respected family who has done nothing but good for our hunting heritage. I'm really hoping it comes together for her today.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for the shockey family. But if I were in a tv show and was paying for a guided elk hunt. The said outfitter in this post wouldn't even be my last choice. If your tv show is that cheap to not even pay for a quality hunt. I have no pity for you.
As far as the op, I think you got ripped off. I think you had the best intentions to get your daughter an elk and did what you thought was best at the time.
After reading this thread and other reports of hunts I am really holding back from blasting this outfitter. If i paid for an elk hunt and was put into a blind for five days- elk or not I would be pissed.

I just saw Eva's last post on facebook and in the pic you can see a fence in the background. I also live close to this herd and see them almost daily on my way to work. Not really hunting if you ask me.

You can actually see that blind from Meridian right across from 274th, there is another blind that sits on the fence line.

Why is it not hunting?

Sounds just like what tons of the most successful whitetail hunters do (sit in blinds on private property).

Are turkey hunters only "really"  hunting if they don't use a blind or wait for the turkeys to show up in an area they tend to use?

I sat in a blind 11 of the last 13 days. Didn't see an elk, but I still considered myself to be hunting. Yes, it was extremely boring, but they do call it hunting! Luckily I was my own guide so I don't have anyone but myself to blame for my lack of success.

I agree with you Rooster.  I met Jim last fall up in the Yukon, only chatted for a few minutes but he was really friendly to someone (me) who walked up to him in a restaurant to say hi and get a couple of photos.

If this outfitter can't get Eva Shockey onto an elk (what a feather that would be), I would highly doubt he can get anyone else on one either.

Hopefully the OP can find someone that might be able to help him get his daughter on an elk in the late season.

Ms. Shockey (or Jim for that matter) didnt pay a dime for that hunt. I'm sure she hunted for free for publicity/recognition for said outfitter.

I looked at the facebook link above and it sounds like no elk were even seen.  One thing to not connect with a legal bull after five days, but not even any cows showed up.   :dunno:

This guy Shane is so full of it he has a guide listed on his website that I know personally and I just called to informed him that he is listed as his guide.  Shane says is one of his guides but the guy I know had no idea he was on his page listed as a guide.  Shane has been asking him to guide for him but he has not and is not guiding for him but Shane put him on there anyways.  Totally class act....NOT....like I said his lies continue on...

Sounds like the only person who may be surprised by this is Eva Shockey.  I posted to her FB page but in a vague sort of way.  I resisted posting to the pic from the blind that she was completely waisting her time.

I wonder how the conversation went for all those hours.  I might have paid $$ just to listen.

They are poachers. Last year , every day they would drive by my field 100 times all dressed in camo. Really shady. One morning went out and there was a gut pile in my field close to the road... Game wardens have them on high watch list.

OK OK OK Everyone,  Teegans dad here!! I would like to start by saying NO my daughter never even seen an elk sitting in Shane's blinds for 5 days. I thought i was giving her a canned hunt experience by putting her in blinds that were sitting on hundreds of pounds of apples only yards away. I took her to one of my easier to access areas in a three point or better area and in 5 hrs she was in the middle of of a heard of 30 with a few non legal bulls.  I too have been following closely on Eva's twitter and facebook pages to see how her hunt went. I sat in some of the very blinds she showed in her posts on FB i knew she was coming because Shane was dropping the name our whole hunt. I have waited to post back on here until the early season ended in case my daughter wanted to try to go to Shane's blinds the last two days of the hunt. After realizing he couldn't put Eva on a bull in 6 a day hunt "which should of been his meal ticket" what an opportunity!! my daughter declined and said we would hit the brush together late season.
So to answer everones questions about our experience with Shane Barbour of Barbour Outfitters is this NO WAY WOULD WE GO AGAIN!!
