Hey everybody I am 16 years old and have been hunting as much as I possibly can since I was 8, this past spring my dad bought a couple of Jason Phelps' cow calls that had the Colockumelk print around them in memory of Aaron and we were determined to call in elk this year with them. Well we started the season with four archery elk tags and yesterday evening we filled the last two and every one was called in with a colockumelk call. It was by far the best hunting experience I have ever had, my dad and I were sitting on a watering hole that we knew would have elk coming to it in the evening and then all of a sudden we heard a bull beating up on a tree above us. then he bugled and then it just got crazy from then on out, their were cows talking and bulls rubbing. it seemed like an hour but they finally worked their way down the hill to the meadow and five calves came first, running across the meadow and into the wallow. I held out for what seemed like forever, watching them play and then finally a cow came across the field and to the other side of the wallow. I waited for her to take a drink and touched one off at 55 yards, :archery_smiley: it was a passthrough right in the lungs. :IBCOOL: they all spooked and with a little convincing of the Phelps call they came back in and my dads friend shot one. they both only went 50 yards. Then we watched the 345+ inch bull beat up on a tree on the other side of the meadow for a bit until we had to go find our cows. Thank you Jason for making these calls, they work magic on elk it is crazy!! and most importantly thank you Aaron for serving our country, and keeping us safe. I believe you are still hunting through the eyes of all of us.

Best thread of the 2013 hunting season to date. Thanks for that and congrats on some fine shooting.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

That's it, everyone needs one of those calls.  Phelps better become a magician and conjour up a factory.

Nice story Helim.  Good shot too.  Hope my sons the deal on Saturday.  Congrts
